Performance Activity #2: Social Media under Normative Theory

Under the normative theory the social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Yahoo and other informative sites fall under the libertarian theory because this theory enable people to see more enough to find and judge good ideas from bad. This theory says that people are rational and their rational thoughts lead them to find out what are good and bad. In giving information social media are not restricted in anything even a negative content may give to the people's knowledge but through this you can make better decision while in worst situation. The libetarian theory is opposite to the authoritarian theory because authoritarian theory says that all forms of communication works under the control of government. That's why the social media falls under the libertarian theory, it gives freedom to the press that enables the media to reveal the real thing happening in the society.

In social media we are free in expressing what we feel and we are free when it comes in revealing the thoughts in certain issues that is happening around us. The libertarianism is an idea of an individual and the government has nothing to do when it comes in controlling the new or media because in this social media every accounts are owned by one person that makes it a author of the message. This theory gives more values for individuals to express their thoughts in media. This social media has too many accounts that gives unreliable news that can help the people to decide whether it is a hoax or not. This theory is more on the freedom of the press in expressing their thoughts on what is happening.
